Panic! At the Dojo

Panic at the Dojo

Genre: Martials Arts Action

Touchstones: Kung-Fu Hustle, Dragonball, One Punch Man, ATLA

What is this game?: Panic at the Dojo! is a TTRPG About high-action tactical combat

How's the gameplay?: Panic at the Dojo uses a very simplistic resolution, even BINARY system in what you can do outside of combat: When you're challenged at something, if you have it as a skill, you succeed! if you don't, you fail! that's literally it! But the game's juice isn't in the between combat, that doesn't matter, what happens IN the combat is what matter, the game's combat is very in-depth, Characters have an Archetype (what defines their basic gameplay loop), Form (The specifics of said gameplay loop), and Styles (Singlet abilities and passives), The core combat loop involves rolling Action Dice to create your action pool, your Form determines what die you roll, and you spend your die as a fuel for abilities, for example a skill might have "exactly a 4" or "3+" as a cost for using them. Combat is speedy, fun, and generally rewards creativity and skillful playing, its a blast

What's the setting (If any) like?: PATD has no defined setting, players are expected to create their own

What's the tone?: PATD excels at simple plots with loads and loads of action!

Session length: 3-4 hours

Number of Players: 4-6 is recommended

Malleability: PATD's generic setting and archetypes mean basically any setting can be run in it!

Resources: A recent update added level scaling, the game does lack in things like character sheets though

PATD is a really really really fun game, the combat is tight, fast paced, and fun, and the characters you make are larger than life and entertaining, I love it!
