Oddity High

Oddity High

"oh boo hoo i had such a weird high school era" yeah everyone did jackass, no one was NORMAL in high school

Genre: High school anime, Action

Touchstones: Mob Psycho 100, Persona, Haruhi Suzumiya (any Ex-Haruhists in chat?), Fooly Cooly (FLCL), Nichijou

What is this game?: Oddity High is a TTRPG about being a group of weirdos in high school... well Weirdos in more ways than one!

Page break

How's the gameplay?: As a PBTA game, Oddity High uses a 2d6+Stat system, the main system draw is the Two Playbook system, characters have a Real World playbook, and an Other Life playbook, IRL playbooks being your character's social niche and general being, maybe they're a cheerleader type always bringing up their friends, or maybe they're a scatterbrained space cadet, and the Other life playbooks are whats wacky about them, maybe they're a runaway experiment, an alien, a psychic... or completely normal in every way shape and form! Characters also have Clubs which add to their stats and Obligation gauge, Obligation is the game's stress mechanic and having too much of it leads to them having a public breakdown, never fun

What's the setting (If any) like?: Well, its generic! in a way, you just need to be a group of youths in some sort of education, and the world has to be a little wacky!

What's the tone?: It's primarily a comedy game, but Mob Psycho, one of the examples given in tone, never shied away from more serious and deep arcs

Session length: 2-4 hours sounds appropriate

Number of Players: The game directly says 3-5 players is recommended, which makes my job a lot easier!

Malleability: Pretty malleable! again as long as its in education and there's wackiness, you can run it!

Resources: The game has a blank character sheet provided, but otherwise not much

Oddity High is a game kinda defined by its inspirations, you KNOW what Oddity High is all about just from the elevator pitch, and sometimes thats all you really need
