What is this game?: Slayers is a game about playing as monster slayers in an endless city of strange monsters
Page break
How's the gameplay?: Slayers uses something called "The Rule of 4", if you roll above a 4, you succeed! Skills are assigned dice based on size, a character starts with a d10, 2d8, and all other skills are d6, the main appeal of Slayers is its combat, its very simplistic and fast-paced! Characters skills are entirely determined by class, which always gives you a Ready action(something to do at combat start) and a basic Attack of some kind, Combat is heavily dependent on the classes inside it, but the core of the combat uses a simplistic distance system (characters can be Engaged, Near, or Far from eachother), and an Initiative also based on their class, the complexity of combat coming from the individual classes means the game's heavily dependant on the classes at play! Something of note, is that the game by default actually has very few classes, that is by design, the game is intended to be heavily homebrewed, while possible and still fun to play with only official products, it is a game intended to be modded
What's the setting (If any) like?: Slayers takes place within an infinite city infested with monsters, the city has an endless amount of districts meaning basically anything is possible, it also has a strict pre-industrial age aesthetic... outside of a nightmare hell dimension which gets industrial age tech and cowboys
What's the tone?: Slayer's tone is dreary mostly, the city is dark, its a slay or be slain world out there! its not a pleasant place
Session length: 2-4
Number of Players: 4-5, I don't recommend having a very large party for this game
Malleability: This is a Strong suit! Slayer's core system is very simplistic, and can be modded into many different settings as per your discretion!
Resources: I couldn't find any sadly, but the game has plenty of fan content and expansions
Slayers is a very simplistic game, and thats its strong suit! its not trying to be anything it isn't, its just a simple action game to have fun with friends, and I really like it!
