Indie TTRPG of the Week

Mobile Frame Zero: Firebrands

Mobile Frame Zero

BIG ROBOT GO PUNCH (im running out of jokes for mech games)

Genre: Mech Game

Touchstones: Armored Core

What is this game?: Mobile Frame Zero Firebrands is a GMless mech game primarily focused on doing minigames for scenes rather than being a free flowing story

How's the gameplay?: MFZ:F uses small minigames rather than a full resolution system for mechanics, as such character creation is mostly just naming your character and giving them a backstory and personality, and gameplay is extremely simple

What's the setting (If any) like?: MFZ:F uses the setting of the already existing Mobile Frame Zero, a lego-based mech war game, the war game itself is actually pretty fun i recommend checking it out too

What's the tone?: It's a pretty damn dire mech setting, its not lookin' good

Session length: 1-2 hours

Number of Players: 3 minimum, you need a character for each faction

Malleability: the system is honestly so simple you could prob twist it into anything but you would likely need to rewrite quite a bit of it to do so

Resources: Uh, none required? i guess?

It's a simple game, but goddamn is it genius in its simplicity
