Hiking

Hiking

It's all downhill from here

Genre: LARP, Real Life Activity

Touchstones: Ghibli movies, Pilgrimages, Wanderhome

What is this game?: Hiking is an activity where you walk down a usually pre-established trail trying to reach some sort of destination, or maybe just to enjoy the roses

How's the gameplay?: Hiking has a very interesting gameplay loop, you basically put one foot in front of the other to walk from point A to Point B, and you determine at character creation (which is flavored as packing your things and choosing which trail to do) why you're following the trail in the first place

What's the setting (If any) like?: Your local park, usually. There's a sort of throwback to D&D's early LOTR roots with the whole concept of going on a journey through wonderful landscapes, but that doesn't really bleed into the setting too much

What's the tone?: It depends, Hiking can be very solitary and introspective, but it can also be a good time to shoot the shit and hang out with friends, it depends on your group, I think most people can have a good time with it though!

Session length: Depends on how long the trail is, I once went on a like 2 hour long hike to a medicine wheel, it was not fun but at least the wheel was pretty

Number of Players: As many as you want, but I recommend bringing at least a group of 4 people to shoot the shit with

Malleability: i have no joke for this

Resources: Your local park will usually have a list of hiking trails you can do, I recommend bringing a water bottle and some nice shoes so you won't get callouses and stay hydrated!

...what, didn't you guys want me to talk about "Pathfinder", this is about finding a path right?
